Racing for Kids
It is TranSystems’ favorite non-profit, our official non-profit in fact. In every city along the various racing circuits, the professional drivers with Racing for Kids visit that city’s children’s hospital.
Robbie Buhl, a real-time Indy 500 racer and spokesman for the group, Executive Director Pat Wright, and their colleagues in the racing world, introduce the kids to the sport of professional automobile racing, show them their protective gear and uniforms, chat and joke, and on occasion, invite the patients to investigate an actual Indy racing car in the parking lot.
You can bet we here at TranSystems like the close link to transportation, our own passion. But most of all, we like the mission.
Those visits count. They nourish a family’s endurance, they bring cheer, they lessen the tedium of the hours, they connect everyone in that room to the mass of the rest of humanity, and who’s to say, now and again, they may affect the outcome.
This relationship is our chance as an organization to ease the way of people along some of the rockiest roads that life has to offer, right when and where they need it the most.
The leadership at TranSystems is fully engaged with this commitment, both personally and financially. In our annual fund drives, whatever amount colleagues think of contributing, TranSystems matches it in addition to our corporate donations.
It is our opportunity to be fully behind the Racing for Kids people who put on their racing uniforms and a smile, enter those hospital rooms over and over again, and don’t leave until those kids feel special.
